Worship in Lent 2010:
Sunday Evensong at 5:00 pm
at St. Michael
and All Angels
Sung evensong with sermon will be offered on four Sundays during Lent and The officiant and preacher will be The Reverend Dr. Paul A. Elliott, Th.D.
Each sermon will explore pastoral, spiritual, and psychological dimensions of the writings of William Shakespeare, with particular attention to four plays:Hamlet (on the Dangers of secrets), Othello (on the challenge of race), Romeo & Juliette (on love and accidental encounters), Anthony & Cleopatra (on the dangers and accidental encounters).
A light meal (soup, salad and bread) will be offered in the parish hall immediately following evensong, with opportunity for friendship and conversation about the play and the sermon. (You might rent the movie and see it beforehand, or as last resort, dig out those cliff notes!).
