The Reverend Fr. Dr. Paul  A. Elliott, Th.D., is a native of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.  In May 2000, Fr. Paul was called as the fourth rector of St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church, a multi-cultural and multi-national congregation located in Stone Mountain, Georgia.

In 2004 Fr. Paul gained his Doctor of Theology in Pastoral Counseling from Emory University, Atlanta. He teaches pastoral theology, pastoral theological method, and pastoral counseling. He is interested in the dynamics of relationships in a congregation. Of particular interest are the psychological, theological and systemic dimensions of leading, managing and growing a congregation through the process of change.

Dr. Elliott teaches, trains and consults with persons and groups to identify and develop effective pastoral practice in ministry and mission. This work is grounded in object relations and self psychology, development group theory, family systems theory, and Trinitarian theology. Dr. Elliott has led seminars, retreats and lectured in England, Australia, Tanzania, and the United States.

Since 2006, he has been a visiting lecturer in pastoral care, pastoral theology and pastoral counseling to Msalato Theological College, Dodoma, Tanzania. (see www.msalato.org)

In 1994 Fr. Paul became an oblate of the Order of St Benedict. Currently he leads a monthly group who seek to learn and live under the rule of St. Benedict.  To learn more about Benedictine spirituality, and the Rule of St.Benedict, see the link below to adult formation.

A Prayer for the Community of St Michael and all Angels

In our time of separation,

Circle us Lord,
keeping protection near and danger afar.

Circle us Lord,
keeping light near and darkness afar.

Circle us Lord,
keeping peace within and anxiety without.

Circle us Lord,
preserve the gap that separates us so that our communion with one another may be kept alive.

May you bring us home rejoicing at the wonders you have shone us.

In the name of the Father,
and the Son
and the Holy Spirit.  AMEN
