Christian Formation:  Children and Youth

At St. Michael, our goal is to help support children and young people in their life as Christians.  Toward that end, we utilize a variety of programs and activities designed to assist in Christian formation.

Christan & Youth Christian Education Program

The Nursery

For our youngest Christians, we provide loving care with our nursery staff person who supervises our parent and youth volunteers.  This service is available every Sunday from 9:00 to 12:00 noon, for children between the age of birth through three (3) years old.

The Elementary Level

Our Elementary Level we use Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, an international educational program based on Montessori educational methods.  This program recognizes that children experience God from a very early age.

Each week the children have the opportunity to connect their learning experience with our worship as community.

The Journey To Adulthood

The Journey To Adulthood Program is a program of spiritual formation for young people that provides a liturgical frame for their experience in our modern culture, celebrates their individuality and their creative potential, and instructs them in skills needed for successful participation in church and society.

The program is based on two key elements: that manhood/womanhood is a gift from God, and adulthood must be earned.  It includes in-depth exploration of self, spirituality, sexuality and society.

The program also follows the imperatives of our baptismal covenant and enables young people to discover and experience the love of God.  All three levels, "Rite 13", "J2A" & "YEA," meet every Sunday morning from 9:15 – 10:15 am, and meet when announced for fellowship.
