Outreach to the Community

Thrift Shop

Established by St. Michael’s Episcopal Church Women in 1951, the year following the founding of the parish, the Thrift Shop serves both the community and the parish by selling used clothing and household items. Net profits from the shop are divided about equally between internal parish needs and a variety of outreach ministries. The Thrift Shop also works in collaboration with the Stone Mountain Cooperative Ecumenical Ministry to provide clothing to persons or families in emergency situations. The Thrift Shop, located at 901 Main Street in the historic city of Stone Mountain, always welcomes volunteers to sort and sell its donated items.

To volunteer contact store manager Licha Lanzas by phone 678-508-6614 or by email thrift@stmichael.cc.

Stone Mountain Cooperative Ecumenical Ministry

In 1999 the Stone Mountain Ministerial Association, under the leadership of a former rector of St. Michael’s, the Rev. Emmett Jarrett, established the Stone Mountain Cooperative Ecumenical Ministry to serve the needy in the Stone Mountain community.

It provides food, personal care items, and limited emergency financial assistance and is supported by several area churches. St. Michael’s supports it through weekly food collections, semi-annual major food drives, financial grants, and volunteers, usually during August which is our month to staff the food pantry.

The Co-op is located at 5324 West Mountain Street, Stone Mountain, and is open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10 AM to 2 PM. and volunteers are welcome to participate at any time. If you would like to volunteer, please contact the Co-op’s Executive Director, Angela Callahan at 770-469-5977.
